Boys (and parents) are welcome to join Cub Scouting at any time.  The "usual" times for joining a Cub Scout pack or a Boy Scout troop are A) during a Fall Scout Roundup event, usually held at school, and B) whenever the unit(s) complete their rechartering.  For Pack and Troop 942 in NorthStar District, Greater St. Louis Area Council, rechartering occurs by January 15th, with the charter year running February 1st to January 31st.
